Reflection- Letter 16 In this letter, Mr. ____ had been away  all weekend to see Shug Avery in town. He cones back sad and depressive. However, Celie only had questions about Shug Avery. This showed that the relationship Celie and Mr. ____ shared was not caring and romantic at all. Celie did not care about Mr.___ and the same feelings were reciprocated by Mr. _____. This lack of love was incorporated into their daily rhythm. Mr. _____ and Celie did resemble lovers, they resembled a slave and master. Journal Entry: Today I had a nice day. I had a great time with my friends and my family and then I had an easy day at work. Things started a little rocky at work with someone stealing another person's meal, but it was shrugged off after the order was made right. I notice that I'm not as critical of myself as I had been in the past. I also have noticed that when I go with the flow and try not to obsess over getting things right, I work better. I'm really proud of myself for
Reflection 4- Letter 10 In this letter, Celie he's absolutely sure that she sees one of her children. She follows their mother and has a nice conversation with her. This is one of the first times that we see her genuinely happy and enjoying herself. Celie asks subtle questions about the child, hinting that she was really her birth mother, joyful knowing that her child was not dead. However, all of her fun and games are cut short when Mr. ____ comes back outside from the store and asks Celie why she was "laughing like a fool." This is the first solid hint that Mr. _____ mistreated Celie just as Fonso had. He only saw Celie as nothing more than a servant to him. Journal Entry #4: Today, I practiced my solo with Mr. Frye today and my classmates cheered me on.  It made me feel good for a little while, but I still think I have so much more to improve on. I'm really putting the effort and emotion into this song as much as it requires from me. Whenever I have down time
Reflection 3- Letter 9 In this letter, Celie had married Mr. ____ instead of Nettie. It did not seen like a very happy and cerimonious wedding, given that one of the children threw a rock at Celie, and popped her head open. Her blood ran down her breasts now instead of milk. I thought of this as a symbol of the pain and suffering Celie was going through. This suffering is familiar, but just in a newer form. Journal Entry #3- This weekend was full of birthdays for me. I went to my friend's party first and then my cousin's the following day. I liked how with each party I went to, the feeling of joy and fellowship never diminished. Whether or not I was with family, I share a familial bond with a lot of people in my life. I appreciate the love I share with others.
Kamryn Barnes Mr. Rease 25 January 2019 AP Lit 12 Reflection- Letter 8 Celie has finally had her education taken away from her because she was told she was "too stupid" in the first place. She did not know that in fact she was pregnant with her own father's child. Mr. ____ had decided to finally take her in as a wife as well. This letter reveals that Celie has finally come to terms with whatever her father would do to her. It also shows just how uneducated she really was, not noticing she was pregnant no matter how obvious it was. It seems that Fonso wanted to make her submissive and servile her entire life, so he removed her from school as a result. Celie now understands her "place" as a forever servant to a dominant man. Journal Entry 2: Today, I learned knew songs in choir for our upcoming Black History Program. Mr. Frye had given me a solo all on my own for the first time to sing at the program. I think the song was a little morbid and strange,
Kamryn Barnes Mr. Rease 24 January 2019 AP Lit 12 Reflection- Letter 1    In the first letter, the main character, Celie, reveals to God that her father had raped her. This obviously scars her for the rest of her life, being that she was only 14 years old when it happened. This event is a very uncomfortable and shocking start to a book, and sets the tone for the rest of the book. The grammar is rough, showing that Celie is an uneducated girl who most likely can not afford an education, or was held back from attending due to other circumstances. This first letter serves as a brutally honest and realistic outlook on the burdens that a person can carry with them. Celie's most innermost and unfiltered thoughts are shown to the reader, eliciting great emotions of anger, concern, and grief from the very beginning of the novel. Journal Entry 1: Today at school, we discussed how each person carries different burdens with them that nobody else knows about. I liked this discussi
