The Imagery Poem



I look through the window
and see leaves
dancing as the wind blows them
the sun glinting warm and bright
the thistle of green swaying
back and forth
back and forth.

        Conducting one's self in the classroom is imperative to how a classroom operates. It is instructed in most classroom settings that a student remains quiet and attentive during class. These basic rules are have been put in place since kindergarten for a specific reason. This is so learning is most efficient during instructional times. Teachers come into class expected students that take their education seriously enough to be quiet and attentive regardless of the circumstances. If these rules are not followed, the students in the classroom can not and will not learn efficiently.           Another downside of not being cooperative in class is confusion. A student can not focus if there is a loud and destructive classroom. It is important and necessary for students to remain in their seat and not to speak unless asked to in the classroom. Kamryn Barnes Mr. Rease AP Eng 11 19 November 2016        The novel, The Sorrow of War , was a novel about the struggles of  a Vietnamese soldier named Kien. The novel told stories of love and loss and how different people cope with the aftermath. The point of view constantly shifts and is sometimes incoherent. The novel is even so witty as to have been out of order just as Kien's attempt at a novel had been. This book was a controversial, however effective portrayal of the Vietnam War. It had exceeded beyond my initial expectations as a historical novel and as a work of fiction entirely.        My initial reaction to such a grim book was pure horror. There were many unpleasant scenes within the book that had been hard to read. However, although these events were indeed horrific and graphic, they were realistic and add substance to the book. Kamryn Barnes Mr. Rease AP Lit 12 Death of a Salesman The social commentary behind this book at such an early timeframe (1940s) where the American Dream was still highly marketed speaks volumes about the boldness of Arthur Miller and how deeply he believed the public needed to hear the message. I greatly admire Miller’s controversiality, knowing that the play had the possibility of not being widely received by the public. This book is a literary feat that stands alone, forever timeless, as a work of art with a profound message. Death of a Salesman is a play that will tell the truth many may not want to hear, and it does so with a mix of both boldness and subtlety.
